What if your next group initiative were both meaningful and unifying?

By organizing a waste collection with Retrace!, your organization helps build a robust database that strengthens our advocacy efforts. All you need to do is create an organization account to get started—and gain access to all the resources you need to prepare for your collection.

More than just a simple cleanup, your efforts are concrete scientific and political contributions to the protection of the ocean.

Much more than just a beach cleanup

By joining Retrace!, your organization becomes part of a regional network of committed organizations and benefits from dedicated promotion on our platform through a personalized page showcasing your initiatives and mission.
This visibility allows you to reach new participants and strengthen your local presence.

Retrace! serves as a catalyst for bringing people together around your organization. These fundraisers help build or strengthen a dedicated community, attract new volunteers, and foster social connections based on shared values. Each event becomes an opportunity to bring people together and raise awareness.

The Surfrider team is here to help you tailor Retrace! to your specific needs. Do you have any suggestions, special requirements, or ideas for improvement? We’re here to listen!

How does it work?

Start by creating your organizer account on Retrace! and describe your organization in a few sentences: your values, your activities, and your commitment to the environment.

Once your account has been verified, you can go to your personal dashboard to schedule your fundraiser—it will automatically appear on the upcoming events calendar, providing a great platform to attract participants and raise awareness for your organization.

Surfrider will send you all the necessary materials: just make sure to allow a few days between setting up your fundraiser and the event date to ensure you receive everything on time.

Note: Since the kit is provided free of charge, please do not use it for paid services.

By joining Retrace!, you’ll also become part of a network of dedicated nonprofit organizations. Local meetups are organized to help you connect with other nonprofits in your area, share your experiences, and work together to strengthen the local nonprofit community.

The Organizer's Kit

The items listed right here are the essentials for a successful fundraiser!
And the good news is that as soon as your fundraiser is registered,
the kit is shipped as quickly as possible* so it’ll be ready on the big day.

It will help you raise awareness by providing key data on marine debris, as well as examples of simple steps you can take to rethink your use of plastic bottles.

Retrace! plastic bags will help you collect trash during your beach, river, lake, or seabed cleanup. These bags are made from recycled plastic.

Jute bags, which are more durable than plastic bags and can be reused, can also come in handy. We suggest using them to separate certain types of waste (glass, metal, and others). Be sure to collect these bags at the end of the collection, rinse them out, and let them dry so you can reuse them.

The nets allow the organizers of Initiatives Océanes to collect trash from the ocean floor.

If you are collecting samples underwater, please send an email to retrace@surfrider.eu to request that the nets be included in the kit.

We are sending you protective gloves for waste collection. Before wrapping up your beach, lake, river, or seabed cleanup, please remember to collect them so you can reuse them.

The “Organizer’s Guide” will help you prepare to oversee your waste collection. It contains all the information you need to successfully carry out your collection on a beach, a lake, along a riverbank, or on the seabed, and to learn more about aquatic waste.

To complement this kit, a wide range of practical and educational resources
are also available in the personal account area:
, including posters, an “organizer’s guide”
, and training videos to help you prepare for the collection!

*Note: Even if you act as quickly as possible, the kit still needs time to reach its destination—we recommend allowing a little extra time between setting up the fundraiser and the event date to ensure the kit arrives on time!
